PROBUS HOLIDAY TO BOURNEMOUTH

Plans for the holiday to Bournemouth next year are progressing. At present, based on the number of members who have expressed an interest, we have a full coach and a waiting list! I shall be contacting those intending to go shortly to ask for an initial deposit of £100 per person to be paid to Ron by 9th. October.

Here is a summary of the present position :

The Hermitage Hotel has been reserved and a booking deposit paid.

It is a 4* hotel with an AA Rosette for food, a lift and on-site coach parking. The hotel is ideally situated close to the pier and beaches and a short walk through the gardens to the Square, Town Centre and Shops.

A Happy Days 53 seater coach has been booked. I have asked for Andy to be our driver. He has driven for us for the last 2 holidays and is a popular and integral part of the holiday. Happy Days point out that they cannot promise that Andy will be available but will do their best to oblige us!

A draft itinerary is being worked up. We plan to make the holiday a relaxing gently paced event with free time built in. The plan is to leave one coach free day to allow time to explore Bournemouth and the surrounding area as you wish. Another day will include a tour of the New Forest Beauty Spots and will be a short leisurely day. The other 2 days will be full days, one to visit Portsmouth and it's attractions and the other to visit Stonehenge and Stourhead house and gardens (both of which are free to National Trust members).

This itinerary is at an early stage of planning and may well change as we get into the detail

The cost (excluding trips) should not exceed £400 per person. Trips could be of the order of £50 per person, probably less for NT members. Room upgrades at additional cost will be available at the hotel for those who require them.
