Twenty nine members and guests enjoyed an afternoon visit on Tuesday 18th.September to Combermere Abbey.
Many of us had never been to the Abbey before and the enlightening and informative guide, Myra, gave us a fascinating insight into the history of the building, its uses, additions and alterations over nearly a thousand years of occupation by monks and various noble and merchant families.
We were all impressed by the standard of the restorations and the detail that Myra was able to describe in this difficult history and restoration.
To round off the day we enjoyed coffee, tea and homemade cake in the Coffee Lounge
Many thanks to Jerry Sullivan for organising a fascinating visit and to the owner Sarah Callendar – Becket.
